2023: Teslim Folarin Declares Interest In Oyo Governorship Race

The lawmaker representing Oyo Central Senatorial District, Teslim Folarin, has joined the race for the Oyo State governorship seat in 2023.

Folarin declared his intention to become the next Oyo governor under the platform of the All Progressives Congress (APC) at the party’s Secretariat in Oke-Ado, Ibadan, on Tuesday.

The former Senate Leader announced his governorship bid at an event to officially welcome Senator Kola Balogun, the lawmaker representing Oyo South Senatorial District to the APC.

Recall that Balogun had resigned from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), following the alleged decision of Governor Seyi Makinde to deny him a ticket to return to the Senate for a second term.

Balogun was received at the APC secretariat by the party chairman, Isaac Omodewu, the entire State Working Committee and some notable leaders of the party in the state.

Some APC leaders in the state present at the event include Senator Abdul-Fatai Buhari, Segun Odebunmi, Mojeed Olaoya, Asimiyu Alarape, Yemi Aderibigbe, Bayo Shittu, Senator Brimo Yusuff, Demola Omotoso and Lamiju Alao-Akala.

Naija News reports that Balogun is the younger brother of Olubadan of Ibadan, Oba Lekan Balogun.
