2023 Presidency: Peter Obi Unstable, We Have Withdrawn Our Support – Group

A political group said it has withdrawn its support for 2023 presidential hopeful, Peter Obi.

The group described the former Anambra State governor as an unstable politician, hence he no longer deserves their support.

Naija News understands that the group was reacting to Obi’s withdrawal from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP). The presidential aspirant had on Wednesday shocked Nigerians after he announced his withdrawal from the opposition party a few days to the party’s presidential primaries.

In a statement obtained by newsmen on Friday, a group which identified itself as the Democratic Forum for Justice and Equity (DFJE) said it regrets supporting the candidate.

Though Obi is yet to announce his new political movement, there are, however, speculations that the presidential hopeful may join the Labour Party to realise his ambition.

It has been said also that talks are ongoing with Obi to have him join the New Nigerian Peoples Party (NNPP) led by the former Governor of Kano State and a presidential aspirant of the party, Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso as his running mate.

The pro-Obi group in the statement issued on Friday through its National Coordinator, Malam Isah Ajilete, said it regretted supporting the former governor of Anambra State in the first place and has now withdrawn its support.

The group noted that it was on the basis of equity and fairness for the Southeast that it initially declared support for Obi.

“We have withdrawn our support for Peter Obi, having realised that he is an unstable politician who has taken his desperation to a selfish level. We made bold to say that we regretted ever supporting Peter Obi in the first place and we have since shifted our loyalty to a stable politician,” the group said.
