2023: Peter Obi Not Joining NNPP, To Announce Party On Friday – Okupe

The Director-General of the Peter Obi Campaign Organisation, Doyin Okupe on Thursday denied the claim that the former Governor of Anambra State is planning to join the New Nigeria Peoples Party.

NNPP is led by a former Governor of Kano State who has presidential ambition in the 2023 general elections.

Recall that Peter Obi tendered his resignation letter on Wednesday, stating that the practices of the party make it impossible for him to remain in the party.

Okupe in a chat with Punch on Thursday said Obi would not be settling for the position of Vice-President in any party.

The DG said, “He (Obi) will not be joining the NNPP. You can quote me on this.”

Okupe when asked which party the presidential aspirant would be Joining, he said an announcement would be made on Friday morning.

There were claims online that Obi met with Kwankwaso, while some sources revealed that he would join the Labour Party.

It was gathered that NNPP would be presenting Kwankwaso and has a plan to only give obi the Vice-Presidential ticket, and offer Obi is not ready to take.

Okupe further stated, “He (Obi) will not settle for the position of Vice-President in any party.
