2023: Mass Defection To APC, As PRP Collapses Structure In Sokoto

The entire leadership of the Peoples Redemption Party (PRP) in Sokoto State have defected to the All Progressives Congress (APC) in the state.

Naija News gathered that the Sokoto chapter of the PRP has collapsed the entire structure of the party in the state.

The structure, which was under the leadership of the party’s gubernatorial candidate, Sa’idu Muhammad Gumburawa joined the APC in the state, saying their decision to team up was in the interest of its people.

Gumburawa, who was the leader of the party in the state told the APC state leader, Aliyu Wamakko, who welcomed them into the party that they decided to dump their former party to contribute their quota towards ensuring the victory of the APC come 2023 elections in the state.

The former PRP governorship candidate was reported to have said that the entire party structure decided to team up with APC to redeem the situation the people of the state found themselves under the PDP-led government.

He also said the team-up with APC and its leaders in the state is to win the elections squarely so that the state will come back to its lost glory as it was during the administration of the former governor, Aliyu Wamakko.

The defectors include all three senatorial candidates of the party in the state, all the House of Representatives, state assembly candidates, as well as all party officials from state to local governments.

While welcoming the defectors into the party, Wamakko, who described the former PRP leader as a friend and partner in progress said he was happy that they joined the APC, noting that APC is a party for all those who want Sokoto State to be developed.

He assured Gumburawa that APC will work with him and all his teeming supporters closely so as to ensure a harmonious working relationship all the time.

Naija News also gathered that the APC governorship Candidate in the state, Ahmad Aliyu Sokoto, congratulated Gumburawa and his allies for joining APC.

Aliyu Sokoto assured him of equal treatment like all APC family members while pledging to carry everybody along if given the mandate to govern the state.

He among other things promised to provide quality healthcare delivery, educational development-boosting trade and investments and agricultural enhancement.
