2023: Kwankwaso To Meet Governor Wike Today

The Governor of Rivers State, Nyesom Wike is set to meet with the presidential candidate of the New Nigeria Peoples Party (NNPP), Rabiu Kwankwaso in Port Harcourt today (Friday).

The meeting is coming at the time the former Governor of Kano State is searching for a running mate ahead of the 2023 general elections.

Kwankwaso has been meeting with the presidential candidate of the Labour Party, Peter Obi over the possibility of the two parties merging.

The discussion has been experiencing stumbling blocks due to who will step down to become the running mate of the other.

Kwankwaso’s meeting with Wike today might be an indication that he is looking for the Rivers State Governor as his running mate.

The meeting between Kwankwaso and Wike was confirmed by the aides of the politicians, Premium Times reports.

The meeting which would focus on the 2023 presidential election would start at 2:30 PM on Friday in Port Harcourt.

Recall that there were claims that Kwankwaso helped Wike gain large votes from Kano delegates at the PDP presidential primaries.

Despite Kwankwaso’s defection to NNPP, his associates are in control of PDP in Kano State.

However, it is not clear whether Wike would dump the main opposition party to join Kwankwaso ahead of the 2023 race.

Wike has remained silent since losing the Vice Presidential ticket of the PDP to his counterpart, the governor of Delta State, Nyesom Wike.

He has since met with politicians in the opposition parties including the Governor of Ebonyi State, David Umahi of the All Progressives Congress (APC) and Obi of the LP.
