2023 Elections: Why I Endorsed My Deputy As Successor – Ganduje

The Governor of Kano State, Abdullahi Umar Ganduje, has revealed why he endorsed his deputy, Nasir Yusuf Gawuna, as his preferred successor in 2023.

Naija News had reported that the decision to pick Gawuna as Ganduje’s successor was made at a meeting of the All Progressives Congress (APC) stakeholders in the state over the weekend.

In a meeting with Kano APC stakeholders on Tuesday, Ganduje said he chose Gawuna as his successor because of his loyalty, reliability and dedication.

According to a statement issued by his spokesman, Abba Anwar, the governor described his deputy as a complete gentleman who knows what is right and what is wrong.

Governor Ganduje added that Gawuna makes good use of his office as a very loyal lieutenant, who is very loyal and dependable.

The statement read in part: “The decision on Gawuna was unanimously taken after exhaustive deliberations with all the stakeholders of the party, adding that, all party procedures were followed before arriving at the position.

“As governor produced Deputy to become governor. This time around, my Deputy Dr Nasiru Yusuf Gawuna is our choice for the gubernatorial seat come 2023 general election. So also he will contest with Murtala Sule Garo as his running mate.”
