2023: ‘5000’ APC Members Join PDP In Buhari’s Home State

Thousands of members of the All Progressives Congress (APC) on Saturday defected to the main opposition Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Katsina State.

The defectors were led to the PDP by APC stalwart, Alhaji Ali Maikano Matazu, who is a retired NNPC director.

He had sought for the APC ticket for Matazu/Musawa federal constituency of the House of Reps but lost due to what he called “injustice in the party.”

Naija News reports that President Muhammadu Buhari hails from Daura in Katsina State.

The PDP governorship flag-bearer in Katsina State, Senator Yakubu Lado Danmarke, alongside the state party chairman, Yusuf Salisu Majigiri, and other party leaders received the defectors at a grand reception in Mayazu.

The Katsina State PDP chairman told Daily Trust that the opposition party received over 5,000 APC members during the event.

Speaking to the huge crowd, Senator Lado Danmarke alleged that the PDP emerged winner of all the local councils’ seats in the recently conducted local government election, but the mandate was stolen by the ruling APC.

He however expressed confidence that in the forthcoming general elections, the PDP will easily win the state.

According to the governorship candidate, with the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC)’s handling of recent polls, the truth shall prevail.

He then charged all party members and supporters to ensure that their permanent voters card (PVCs) were intact ahead of the elections.
